Why not just have this privately for the friends of this avatar instead of making everyone memorialize it?

There are two such Memorial sites that I am aware of: The 9/11 sim and The Wall sim. T
he 9/11 sim lists the names of those people who died in the US Twin Towers attacks.
The 9/11 sim uses a similiar design as The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. It was built by Liam Kanno of Silicon City.
The Wall sim is a replica of The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC - The Wall lists all 58,223 names of these US veterans killed or missing in the war.
I think it would be a very nice idea to have a sim where notable Second Life residents that have died and that have made a contribution to the Second Life community are laid to rest - in a memorial sim where new residents can learn about those that have come before them and did make a difference.
I did not know Ginny, but it sounds like she did make a difference for many SL residents, and she does deserve a place in Second Life history in my opinion.
Best Wishes

Thanks Seraph! I know that there is a mausoleum for Feliciaa Feaver in the graveyard at Transylvania. I'm sure that there are lots of personal tributes around the grid.

I remember reading somewhere very recently that there was a memorial sim, with tributes to many. If I come across the reference, I'll let you know.

I think the "Day of SL Remembrance" is an excellent idea.

The island I'm on acts as a memorial to many of the residents' pets. Been thinking about starting a slideshow frame for SL-ers to send in photos of their departed cats.
